A LOOK INTO NISSAN CONCEPT CARS

Nissan unveiled a number of concept cars this year, including some of the company’s boldest designs yet.

14 December 2018

Showcased at some of the biggest automotive trade shows around the world, Nissan’s concept car line-up covers an innovative range of new technologies and design that could appear in new Nissan models. Here are some of the Nissan cars we could be seeing - and driving - in the future.

NISSAN IMX

An innovative crossover designed to make mobility more enjoyable, Nissan’s IMx concept vehicle offers a more connected approach to driving. Rather than just a way to get around, the IMx is an enjoyable ride that puts the driver in complete control. With the ability to control the car’s drive mode, the car may be able to tell us what the future of Nissan Intelligent Mobility will look like.

NISSAN VMOTION 2.0

A vehicle for busy professionals, the Vmotion 2.0 provides a seamless ride that combines style, comfort and technology in the company’s future sedan design direction. Its striking silhouette includes a “floating roof” which runs from the A-pillars to the tip of the boot. With a body surface defined by Nissan’s “emotional geometry” design language, the Vmotion 2.0 also promises an emotionally pleasing design. This is complemented by a layered effect paint finish that reveals subtle hue changes at different angles.

NISSAN IDS CONCEPT

The IDS concept car tells us a lot about Nissan’s vision for the future, particularly when it comes to autonomous driving and zero emissions EVs. Unlike other manufacturers, who envision as a world of conveyor belt-style transport, Nissan’s vision is much more personal. With the IDS, autonomous driving is used to imitate the driver’s usual style and preferences. Even when Piloted Drive mode is used and the vehicle is completely in control, everything from acceleration to braking imitates the driver’s style. That means you can enjoy exactly the same drive, only with much less effort.

NISSAN IDX FREEFLOW

With a classic exterior and comfortable interior, the IDx Freeflow has been designed to make its passengers feel at home. The four passenger concept car offers a relaxing ride that mixes everyday comfort with tasteful functionality, offering a creative and innovative package.

NISSAN IDX NISMO

Bringing all the joy of racing simulation games to the real roads, the Nissan IDx Nismo makes the virtual driving experience a reality. Designed by co-creators who grew up playing driving-based computer games, the IDx Nismo takes inspiration from all eras and all corners of the globe. The result is a box-shaped racing car that mirrors Nissan’s distilled heritage, with a number of new details. It pays homage to the past yet looks and feels as timeless as a car can.

NISSAN SWAY

Designed for a primarily European market, the Sway is bringing a much-needed update to the compact hatchback segment and could indicate how a future generation of compact Nissan cars will look. With a swooping design, sleek lines and a large, rounded windscreen, it’s a big step up and could be a complete game-changer for the market.
