This year, Honda is introducing a new model to its range of Civic cars. The Civic Sport Line is based on the styling of the Civic Type R, but will add an entire new dimension to the Japanese manufacturer’s 2020 Civic line-up. Here is everything you need to know about the Honda Civic Sport line.
The brand new Honda Civic Sport Line is available in a top of the range model, EX. Building on the practicality and incredible driving dynamics of the best-selling standard Honda Civic, the new Civic Sport Line adds new, assertive styling features to the popular model.
The Honda Civic is already well known for its distinctive styling, and the Civic Sport Line builds on and enhances the range’s unique design. The new model comes with a number of additional design features, including front and rear skirts, a rear diffuser and a subtle rear spoiler. All of these come together to create the sportiest Honda Civic yet, with the latter paying homage to the brand’s sporting heritage.
These new sporty additions are complemented by sleek design features such as LED headlights and daytime running lights in line with the cleaner styling direction that we will begin to see across the entire Civic range. The Honda Civic Sport Line comes with an additional paint finish option, too: Obsidian Blue. This sporty shade will be available alongside the existing range of colour options for all Civic versions.
The new Honda Civic Sport Line includes all of the styling upgrades that will be featured across all of the 2020 model year Civic range, plus some premium extras. These additional design features include red stitching detail on the seats, steering wheel, gear shift boot and door panels, which is new to the Sport Line. The driver will also find drilled aluminium pedals at their feet - yet another example of how the Sport Line is paying homage to the brand’s sporting heritage.
As well as the updated styling features and accents, the interior of the Civic Sport Line includes a system full of top of the range technology, too. The Honda CONNECT infotainment system, which includes DAB radio, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, comes as standard on the Honda Civic Sport Line. The system also integrates with the car’s reversing camera on the top grade. Other features include the Collision Mitigation Braking System, Lane Departure Warning and Traffic Sign Recognition.
As you’d expect with any sporty model, the Civic Sport Line offers a dynamic driving experience. Despite this, it is a surprisingly efficient car to own thanks to the 1.0 litre three cylinder turbocharged engine’s low emissions, which has a fuel efficiency of 42.4mpg to 47.1 on the WLTP cycle. The VTEC Turbo unit produces CO2 emissions as low as 128-152 combined CO2 despite its impressive 126 PS and 200 Nm of torque. All of this combined makes the Honda Civic Sport Line an efficient and powerful vehicle that offers great value for money.
