NISSAN JUKE SET FOR HYBRID MAKEOVER

With a launch date of September 3rd 2019, the all new Nissan Juke will be making its debut in just a couple of weeks’ time. The updated model, which will be the second reiteration of the popular crossover model, is due to go on sale in early 2020 - about six months after its official launch next month. It is expected that the prices of the new Nissan Juke will be about the same as the current model. 

HYBRID TECHNOLOGY

The new Nissan Juke will be one of the first compact crossover cars to be made available with plug-in hybrid technology. The second-generation Juke will come with a 1.6 litre four cylinder petrol engine, while its 9.8kWh battery will power an electric motor. With this winning combination, the new hybrid Nissan Juke should be able to drive around 20 miles using nothing but electric power.

The outgoing Nissan Juke had a huge impact on the automotive industry when it launched back in 2010. Its unusual shape and adventurous styling marked a new era for crossover vehicles and sparked noticeable changes among other manufacturers. The Nissan Juke was the first real crossover to offer such a unique blend of affordability, practicality and style, and its popularity is testament to its winning combination. It is this winning combination that prompted other manufacturers to develop vehicles such as the SEAT Arona, Citroen C3 Aircross and Volkswagen T-Cross to compete with the Juke’s size and price point.

The second generation of the Nissan Juke looks set to create just as many waves with its bold style. Although only two official images have been released, it is clear that the new model will be just as adventurous as the first. With slim daytime running lights and round headlamps, the all new Juke appears to have a more aggressive stance than the outgoing model. This is complemented by sporty details including a deeper grille and its double-bubble roof which has been inspired by motorsports.

As well as introducing the new future-ready hybrid technology, the second generation Nissan Juke will address some of its predecessor’s biggest criticisms. Designed to offer an all-round better driving experience, the all new Nissan Juke will see significant increases in overall size and passenger space. The new model’s increased wheelbase will give passengers additional rear head and knee room, while the boot capacity will also increase from 354 litres to around 380 litres. 

The design isn’t the only thing getting an update, with the new Juke’s technology getting an upgrade too. The small infotainment system found in the first generation Juke is being replaced by a larger, dash-mounted touchscreen. The new system will provide Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, so drivers can connect their car to their smartphone, while the added ProPilot system will provide a range of new safety technologies.
