THE NEXT GENERATION NISSAN JUKE AWARDED A FULL 5 STAR SAFETY RATING BY EURO NCAP

At the end of last year, the Next Generation Nissan Juke was awarded a five star safety rating by Euro NCAP. The rating is the highest one available and recognises the Nissan Juke’s commitment to keeping everybody safe, both inside and outside the vehicle.

The awarding body, Euro NCAP (European New Car Assessment Programme), is an independent organisation that assesses the performance and safety of new cars coming on to the market throughout Europe. It was created by several motoring associations in 1996 and has been independently rating cars ever since from its headquarters in Belgium. Today, it is an important rating that many car buyers take into consideration when searching for their next model. Euro NCAP’s assessment of the Nissan Juke proves that the Japanese manufacturer is putting safety first and leading the way with its top of the range safety technologies.

ROBUST CRASH AVOIDANCE TECHNOLOGY

As well as providing an overall rating for each vehicle it assesses, Euro NCAP also looks at and rates specific aspects of safety when assessing a car. Recognising the different needs and scenarios, the organisation takes both adult safety and child safety into account. In its tests on the Nissan Juke, it awarded a 94% safety rating for adult protection and an 85% safety rating for child occupant protection.

It was the Nissan Juke’s advanced reinforced structure that helped it secure such exceptionally high ratings. The ultra-high strength steel from which the car has been built and its ability to absorb and dissipate an impact before it reaches the passengers had a large influence on the high Euro NCAP ratings. These ratings place the new Nissan Juke in a good position within the small SUV category and solidify its reputation as one of the safest SUVs around.

KEEPING EVERYBODY SAFE

Part of the Euro NCAP assessment focuses on how well a car has been designed to prevent accidents, rather than simply protecting those involved if one occurs. The 2019 rating tests made a special point of recognising models that go beyond legal safety requirements and offer safety technology that helps avoid collisions. In this area, the Nissan Juke scored highly once again, with a rating of 73%. This was mostly thanks to the Nissan Juke’s suite Intelligent Mobility technologies, which feature on many Nissan models and was recognised by Euro NCAP.

This set of technologies includes a number of active safety features designed to protect those outside the car, as well as those on the inside. Cyclist and Pedestrian Detection is a great example of one handy feature designed to protect those around the Nissan Juke, as is its Blind Spot Intervention technology. The latter is a first in the Nissan Juke’s small SUV class - a fact that has been recognised by Euro NCAP.  It also includes the Nissan ProPILOT system, which is available on selected grades. This unique Nissan technology makes the roads even safer by acting as a step towards autonomous driving.
