In early March 2019, the Nissan LEAF became the first electric car in the world to ever surpass 400,000 sales. That achievement made the fully electric car the best selling vehicle of its kind of all time, following on from its record as the best selling electric car in Europe last year.

LEADING THE GLOBAL SHIFT TOWARD SUSTAINABLE MOBILITY

As the entire automobile industry begins to move toward more environmentally conscious power, the Nissan LEAF is leading the movement. As the best selling electric car, the Nissan LEAF is a pioneer of the future and paving the way for the cars of the coming years. While other car manufacturers are just beginning to make the shift toward electric power, the second generation Nissan LEAF has been on the market for nearly two years - and has nearly a half million sales to prove its popularity.

NO LONGER A NICHE PRODUCT

When it was first announced in 2011, the Nissan LEAF was so far ahead of its time that it was considered a niche product. Its customers were mostly “early adopters”, willing to take a chance on an entirely new approach to driving. Now, though, many drivers are considering that their next car may be an electric - or electrified - vehicle. The sales of the Nissan LEAF are not just testimony to the car’s popularity, but to the changing mindset and growing trend toward electric vehicles in general.

LEADING THE GLOBAL MOVEMENT

When Nissan launched the second generation LEAF nearly two years ago, the Japanese manufacturer pledged to become a global leader in producing and promoting vehicles with zero tailpipe emissions. Nissan has led and accelerated the movement by supporting governments to make charging easier and developing solutions for used car batteries. This effort has led to increased confidence in both electric power and the electric vehicles already available, the leading model of which is the Nissan LEAF.

NISSAN INTELLIGENT MOBILITY

The Nissan LEAF isn’t just an electric vehicle. It comes with a range of technology designed to make driving more fun and convenient, such as the Nissan Intelligent Mobility features. From the e-pedal that allows driving with one pedal to Nissan ProPilot, The Nissan Intelligent Mobility technology gives the Nissan LEAF the power and intelligence it needs to make every drive simple and enjoyable.
